On October 23, gunmen attacked a Greek Orthodox church in Hammoud, near Karak, Jordan, opening fire on Christians attending a funeral. Initial reports indicate seven people were killed and 34 injured, some seriously. Jordanian authorities described the shooting as a terrorist attack. According to Roya News, preliminary assessments suggest the attackers were motivated by extremist Islamist (Takfiri) ideology. The gunmen fled the scene.

Cardinal Koovakad attended Sikh gathering opened with pagan devotional hymns. On 21 October, Cardinal George Jacob Koovakad, Prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue, visited the Sikh community in Birmingham, England. He was received by Sikh spiritual leader Bhai Sahib Mohinder Singh Ahluwalia. The publication, Schede per conoscere l’Islam (“Sheets for Understanding Islam”), was prepared by the CEI and the Pontifical Institute for Arabic and Islamic Studies (PISAI). It comprises 11 teaching sheets intended for use in Catholic religious instruction in Italian schools. They were presented at Palazzo Borromeo in Rome on October 21, at an event attended by Cardinal Matteo Zuppi. Sheet 2 describes Muhammad as “chosen by God to carry His message and to establish and guide the new community of believers.” It also presents him as an ideal believer whose life became a model for Muslims. Members of the Irish Synodal Assembly have voted for women to be ordained as deacons, marking the conclusion of a synodal process which has lasted for over five years. The Irish bishops must now decide what to do with this proposal.
On October 20, Hereditary Prince Alois of Liechtenstein confirmed that he would not approve legislation allowing abortion. The bill had passed Parliament on September 2 by 13 votes to 12. Without the Prince's approval, it cannot enter into force. He stated that the proposal did not adequately protect unborn life. He expressed support for improving information, counselling and assistance for mothers.
